Please read the following Q & A to get the answers for the most common questions.

Question: Other forestry mulchers/mowers need either a dedicated carrier or an additional power pack to operate. How is the RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher able to operate on the existing carrier hydraulic flow?

Answer:  This was one of the primary prerequisites that Jon Moffet acknowledged must be met to make a cost-effective means for fuel reduction work. Jon spent numerous hours structuring and testing his pending gearbox to accomplish this. He designed a set of gears and bearings that work so efficiently they eliminate the need for external power. We are not telling what goes on in there... that is our secret!

Question: How is the RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher able to provide such consistent mulch?

Answer: The RDM™ Technology achievement depends on the synergy energy of the cutting plate RPM's, the position of the cutting teeth, and the reduction shroud design. Each of the three need to work in harmony to have the accomplished genuine mulch. "The attachments do what Advanced Forest Equipment says they can do. You can get more production out of a smaller base machine without doing any costly adjustments to the excavator. If your excavator has auxiliary hydraulics to run a hammer or breaker, you can easily run an RDM attachment."

Question: What additional controls are needed on the carrier to operate a RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher?

Answer: None! The RDM™ does not need any add-on controls.

Question: How long does it take to install or remove a RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher attachment?

Answer: This depends on the carrier and the type of disconnects you order with your RDM™. The changeover ranges from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. Either way, your carrier maintains its versatility.

Question: Who will service or repair the RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher?

Answer: Maintenance and service is simple for the RDM Forestry Disc Mulcher, and many of our customers do routine tasks themselves.  Advanced maintenance training is available as an option. You can always call us for any technical assistance. (866) 772-0999.

Question: Where can I buy parts for the RDM™ Forestry Disc Mulcher?

Answer: All bearings, seals, pistons are OEM parts and can be obtained from your local heavy equipment dealer or any parts supplier in the heavy equipment business. The shaft and bearing box are proprietary products and must be obtained through Advanced Forest Equipment (Click Here for Skid Steer & Forestry parts). We stock a complete line of parts at our manufacturing facility and can provide express shipment to most anywhere in the world.

Question: What is the warranty on the RDM™?

Answer: Direct from Advanced Forest Equipment we offer a 6-month warranty that covers the RDM™ from defects in material and workmanship. Some OEM parts have warranties available directly from their manufacturer. (Refer to the warranty information card for a complete description of the warranty).

Question: How many models do you have in the ECO Series Line?

Answer: We have 2 models under our ECO Series Line. Not to be confused with our SS ECO Forestry Disc Mulcher which is designed for Skid Steers. We have 2 different models for excavators, 38 ECO Mulcher, and the 44 ECO Mulcher.

Question: Do the ECO Series Mulchers have an edge over the RDM™ Series?

Answer: Our ECO Series offers the same outstanding performance at a lower more affordable cost. The ECO Series is a light duty mulching attachment, ideal for the smaller contractor, farmer, ranch, or landowner. The ECO Series utilizes a bolt-on on the adapter plate mounting system so you can easily and efficiently move this mulching implement between excavators.

Question: What kind of life should I expect out of the RDM™?

Answer: Contact Jon in our Sales Department to go over specific RDM™ Model warranties. The RDM™ 34EX Compact and RDM™38EX have 6-month warranties, the hydraulic motor is an OEM Product and is covered by the Manufacturer directly not by Advanced Forest Equipment. The RDM™ 44, 52 RDM™, & 58 RDM™ have 12-month warranties, the hydraulic motor is an OEM Product and is covered by the Manufacturer directly not by Advanced Forest Equipment.

Rex Roth Hydraulic Motors

Rex-Roth hydraulic bent axis piston motor-Rex-Roth manufactures the best hydraulic motors in the world.

Bearing Box

Oil-bathed bearing box with heat treated shaft. Our output shaft is 6” in diameter and they are heat treated for additional strength.  Oil-bathed systems run cooler with better lubrication than grease systems and required no daily maintenance.

Reduction Shroud System

Our reduction shroud system reduces debris field but more importantly, this system aids in a one cut method by pulling the cut material into the reduction shroud forcing the material directly into the cutting teeth surfaces resulting in faster mulching with smaller treated mulch size.

Digging Spade Feature

This allows the operator to clear and clean ditch lines, pull material for quicker mulching, mates to the excavator's thumb to move material or load material into trucks, aids in movement of the excavator.

Structural Mounting System

This is the strongest design for mounting mulching attachments and digging buckets for excavators. This allows for the digging and pulling operation without collapsing the mulching attachment.

Variable Speed Capability

One of the most important features of the RDM™ mulching attachment is for the operator to have the ability to regulate the speed "RPM's" on the mulching attachment. Different material species require slower or faster speeds when mulching. Faster production with smaller mulch size is a result when running variable speed mulching attachment. Safe operation of mulching attachment with more control for your operator.

RDM Mulching Attachments

They are manufactured to work with the excavator's thumb. We manufacture each RDM attachment to match and mate your excavator's thumb. Just like your dirt bucket, we can pick up a a rock, dirt and other objects with the mulcher/thumb combination.
