FAQ

Other mechanical mastication attachments need either a dedicated carrier or an additional power pack to operate. How is the RDM™ able to operate on the existing carrier hydraulic flow?

This was one of the first requirements that Jon Moffet realized must be met in order to create a cost effective means for fuels reduction work. Jon spent many hours designing and testing his patent pending gearbox to achieve this. He designed a set of gears and bearings that work so efficiently they eliminating the need for external power. We’re not telling what goes on in there. That’s our secret!

How is the RDM™ able to provide such consistent mulch?

RDM™ Technology success is based on the synergy of the cutting disc rpm’s, cutting teeth placement and the reduction shroud design. All three have to work in harmony to be able to achieve true mulching capabilities.

"The attachments do what AFE says they can do.  You can get more production out of a smaller base machine without doing any expensive modifications to the excavator.  If your excavator has auxiliary hydraulics to run a hammer or breaker, you can easily run an RDM attachment."

What additional controls are needed on the carrier to operate the RDM™?

None! The RDM™ does not need any add on controls.

How long does it take to install or remove and RDM™ attachment?

This depends on the carrier and the type of disconnects you order with your RDM™. The changeover ranges form 5 minutes to 15 minutes. Either way your carrier maintains it’s versatility.

What kind of life should I expect out of the RDM™?

Currently we have heads that have been in use for over 6,000 hours without any major repairs needed. We feel that with proper use and care an RDM™ could last well beyond that.

Who will service or repair the RDM™?

Maintenance and service are simple for the RDM and many of our customers do routine tasks themselves.  Advanced maintenance training is available as an option.  We also have an 800 # for technical assistance.

Where can I buy parts for the RDM™?

All bearings, seals, pistons are OEM parts and can be obtained from your local heavy equipment dealer or any parts supplier in the heavy equipment business. The shaft and bearing box are proprietary products and must be obtained through Advanced Forest Equipment. We stock a complete line of parts at our manufacturing facility and can provide express shipment to most anywhere in the world.

What is the warranty on the RDM™?

Direct from Advanced Forest Equipment we offer a 6 month warranty that covers the RDM™ from defects in material and workmanship. Some OEM parts have warranties available directly from their manufacturer. (Refer to the warranty information card for a complete description of the warranty).
